About IELTS

  • IELTS
    Academic

    it is conceived for prospective students who wish to enroll to courses abroad in top institutions and universities taught in English. It assesses whether a student is ready to begin studying or training in an environment where the syllabus is taught in English. This test is also an option for those who wish to register with a professional body in an English-speaking country. The IELTS results are accepted by many associations including those under major disciplines such as engineering, law, nursing, etc.

    General Training

    Recipients of the IELTS General Training Certificate have a better chance to migrate to native English-speaking countries and work there. This particular exam is also favorable for those who which to enroll themselves for secondary education as well. The test focuses on basic survival skills in workplaces and broad social environments.

How To Apply For IELTS

In India, candidates may choose to take both paper-based or computer based tests. The paper-based exams are open 48 times a year held mainly on Saturdays & Thursdays. For the computer based variant, students may choose from multiple days and schedules. The results are usually generated within 5 to 7 days of successfully completing the test.     Exam Format

    Four English language skills - Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking – will be assessed under the IELTS test format. The Listening, Reading & Writing Sessions will have to be completed in one day while the Speaking test can be scheduled for a later date based on your convenience.

      30 Minutes

      IELTS Listening Test

      A set of four recordings will be shared with the candidates. They will have to listen to the recordings and answer the question based on them accordingly. The test should be completed within a time span of 30 minutes.

      The Reading test will feature 40 questions for students to answer. This test is designed to analyse the reading skills of students and their ability to comprehend them

    IELTS Evaluation

    Different countries have set a base minimum IELTS score for those looking to migrate

    • Australia

      An overall score of 6.5 is required in IELTS with no band less than 6.0 for postgraduate courses. For bachelor’s degree courses, it is 6.0 overall with no band less than 6.0.

    • New Zealand

      A minimum overall of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 is required for UG courses and a minimum overall of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0 is required for PG courses.

    • Canada

      A score of at least 6.0 is required in each test with an overall minimum of 6.5 for both UG and PG courses.

    • Ireland

      To study in some of the best universities in Ireland, an overall IELTS score of 6.5 is required with no individual section below 6.0. Students are required to achieve a minimum score of 5.0 for long duration courses and 4.0 for short term English language preparatory courses of less than 6-month duration.

    • UK

      The minimum IELTS score required to study in the United Kingdom is 6. However, it is to be noted that a better score will enhance your chances in top-rated universities.

    • USA

      Depending on the university and the course, the minimum IELTS score required for students to study in the United States of America varies between 6.0 to 7.5.
